A complete guide on the pressure gauge

Plastigauge, which looks like a black, flexible gasket material, is used to measure clearances in machinery. It can be stretched to different thicknesses with a steel mandrel, and when it's inserted between two moving parts in a split bearing or other situation, it measures the amount of clearance in thousandths of an inch. This allows you to see whether there's too much or too little clearance for optimum performance. If you're trying to determine whether a piece of machinery is working correctly, and especially if you have some idea of what the correct clearance should be but don't know how to measure it or don't have the right measuring tools on hand, Plastigauge will get the job done.

If you don't know what the correct clearance should be, but you have a general idea of whether it should be tighter or looser than what it is now, Plastigauge will help you figure out whether the problem is in your machinery or in your approach to fixing it. The flexibility of this material allows you to stretch a fairly wide range of sizes onto your mandrel (the handle on which Plastigage is wound) for use in measuring clearances at different places in the machinery.

When you're trying to fit two parts together or determine whether a part is loose, it can be tricky to have something like a feeler gauge or a set of calipers give you precise measurements. Plastigauge ® is the solution. When you use it, you get a simple measurement that's more precise than your eyes and fingers alone. Plastigauge ® is a high-tech material that can be used to measure clearances in many different situations, but it's also very easy to use, even for amateurs who don't have much experience with tools. If you need an accurate measurement of whatever gap you might be looking at, Plastigauge ® is the way to go.

Plastigauge® is one of the most widely used products in the automotive service industry. It is a form of gasket material that is used to test clearances in engine components. It is a very important part of the preventative maintenance procedures that are used on vehicles in order to make sure that the vehicle is running safe and proper.

Plastigauge® can be found at most auto parts stores and it is made by the Rol-Lok Co. The product comes in a variety of different sizes and colors, with the most common size being a two-inch diameter roll. The product was first made in 1947 and was originally used by machinists to measure clearances on their machinery. Rol-Lok later began marketing it to machine shops so they could keep track of tolerances, as well as to automotive companies so they could work toward increasing fuel efficiency.

Different ranges of these gauges and their uses:

Plastigauge PL-A:

PLASTIGAUGE PL-A is appropriate for the measurement of clearance in plain automotive bearings. It is made of a special alloy that has a high degree of elasticity, which makes it an ideal choice for measuring various diameters of plain bearings.

PLASTIGAUGE PL-A is offered in a wide range of sizes that can be easily cut to the required length. The gauge allows for maximum accuracy when measuring with minimum time and without any special equipment.

PLASTIGAUGE PL-A gauges are well suited for measuring the following applications:

For measurements from 0.001 to 0.007 inches (0.025mm – 0.175mm), use the PLASTIGAUGE PL-A 100 Gauges

For measurements from 0.01 to 0.07 inches (0.25mm – 1.75mm), use the PLASTIGAUGE PL-A 10 Gauges

All pack sizes are available with or without measurement reading cards (mm & inches) and instructions, so you can order exactly what you need and nothing more!

Plastigauge PL-B:

It is used for measuring the clearance between parts in motion and stationary, such as gears and bearings. Plastigauge provides an exact and visible measurement of the operating clearances between parts in motion. It measures up to 0.010″ (0.250mm) using color bands on a card. The accuracy of Plastigauge can be determined by measuring the diameter of a brass rod that fits into the Plastigauge with the same clearance as the part being measured. The minimum acceptable accuracy of Plastigauge gauges is 0.0005″ (0.0127mm).

An additional benefit of Plastigauge is that it can be used to measure operating clearances while parts are in motion because it is flexible, stretchable, and compressible when heated or cooled. This eliminates problems associated with conventional mechanical measuring instruments that are rigid and cannot be placed into operating tolerances due to a lack of a fit-up surface or interference with other components. Plastigauge also has an infinite working range, so there are no limits to how tight or loose components may run without affecting the accuracy of its measurements.
